25/5/2018 Posted in: General News
The Butcher Standard Apprenticeship, designed by ftc and a butchery employer group, has won ‘Training Scheme of the Year’ in the annual Meat Management Awards, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. Celebrating the ‘creativity, innovation and excellence in the Uk’s meat industry’ the awards are judged by a combination of reader voting and an expert panel. The butchery apprenticeship, also known as the ‘trailblazer butchery apprenticeship’ was launched in 2016, with industry leaders hailing it, ‘the best apprentice programme ever in our 100-year history.’ Since then there have been over 500 starts on the programme, with several of the apprentices now progressing onto the Advanced Butcher apprenticeship programme. Commenting on the win, Bill Jermey, Chief Executive of ftc said, ‘We are delighted we have won this award. It is a tribute to all in our team as well as the employers who gave their time to help design worthwhile apprentice schemes for the industry.’Meat Management Awards Logo for Training Scheme of the Year The night also saw awards being won by key industry stakeholders.
